Manipal Open Source Society is the first official open source club of MIT, Manipal. Formed with the vision to revive the dwindling FOSS culture in the college, the main aim of the club is to spread awareness about Open source through the lenses of lenses of Software Development, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Computer Graphics, Cybersecurity, Robotics and much more. Gateway To Open Source

Avinal Kumar and Bhanavi Meghani, both associate software engineers at Red Hat, were invited for an online talk on"Gateway to Open Source". During the event, they discussed the benefits of open source software, how to contribute to open source projects, and provided tips on getting started. They also shared their own experiences working in open source, including the challenges and rewards. The event was well-received by 80+ attendees who attended the event in offline mode and were keenly interested in learning more about open source and how to become involved in the community.
Perceptron
10th-15th March 2022
Perceptron was a one-week workshop designed to introduce participants to the concepts of machine learning and computer vision. The workshop started with the basics of Python required for machine learning and then covered libraries such as NumPy and Pandas. Participants were then introduced to the basics of neural networks, convolutional neural networks, and computer vision using the OpenCV library. By the end of the workshop, participants had acquired a solid foundation in these areas, enabling them to develop basic computer vision projects using Python.
